Services For China Long-Term Care

China has the largest elderly population in the world and been rapidly walking into an aging society. In 2019, China’s population of 60 years old and above is 253.88 million, and 65 years old and above is 176.03 million. To cope with the challenges of service shortage, the elderly care has been rising in China. However, compared with China's rapid economic development, the professional elderly care services in China, especially the long-term care for the frail elderly, are still far from meeting the needs of the elderly and their families. The traditional care depended on family is still a dominant reality in China’s elderly care. The lack of a national long-term care system and network, and formal and informal comprehensive services diversified are a significant reason for current reality.
