In view of China’s large elderly population, China government has advocated that the Chinese elderly care model is mainly based on home-based care and institutional care as a supplement. However, China has still mainly relied on family care, and lacked social and community services to help and support family to care for their loved one.  Furthermore, in China whether it is home care or institution care there is still a huge gap in the professional care of Alzheimer’s and dementia related, as well as the professional hospice care. On the other hand, since China does not have a unified national long-term care system and related services, it also lacks legislations and conventional supervision and management systems for elderly care projects and services. In some regions, this has led to the speculative development of elderly care projects and inferior services, jeopardizing the elderly’s basic rights and interests.
